Our Legacy
Three generations of master craftsmanship
The Story of Our Craft
Founded in 1998, Antique Restoration By Michael Dickey began as a passion project rooted in a deep appreciation for historical craftsmanship. What started in a modest garage workshop has evolved into Alabama's premier destination for authentic antique furniture restoration.
Our journey began when Michael Dickey inherited his grandfather's woodworking tools and a collection of damaged family heirlooms. Rather than discard these treasured pieces, he dedicated himself to learning the traditional techniques used by 18th and 19th-century craftsmen. This commitment to authenticity became the cornerstone of our restoration philosophy.
Today, we serve collectors, museums, historic homes, and families across the Southeast, treating each piece as a unique historical artifact deserving of meticulous care and attention. Our workshop combines traditional hand tools with modern conservation techniques, ensuring that restored pieces maintain their historical integrity while gaining renewed strength and beauty.
We believe that antique furniture restoration is not just about repair—it's about continuing the story of each piece, honoring the original craftsmen, and preserving cultural heritage for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
